Tailoring traditional cuisine for sale

Expressions of interest

Do you or your community cook great food?
Are you interested in sharing recipes and food stories?
Are you interested in selling food at local markets or for profit but need some support and advice?

Communities who have recently settled in Hobart through Refugee and Humanitarian migration pathways, as well as new and emerging communities groups are invited to work with Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania to tailor traditional cuisine for sale.

Communities will work in small groups with an Interpreter and an experienced food professional to:

  • Refine menus and recipes
  • Capture food related stories and customs
  • Learn more about pricing, presentation and marketing options
  • Gain practical experience of planning, preparing, cooking and selling food at market stalls and in other commercial settings

Sessions will be held throughout December 2017 and January 2018. Food products will be tested at commercial and local market settings from February, 2018 onwards.

Please contact Scoutt Winter at Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania to discuss this project:
